AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE NINTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE FOR A SENIOR CITIZEN SAFETY PROGRAM IN THE NINTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the ninth judicial district attorney's office for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to fund the Newman project, a safety program for senior citizens, which shall include educational campaigns to address fraud against the elderly, promotion of personal safety in and around elders' homes, purchasing and installing security motion lights, peep-holes, deadbolt locks on doors and periodical timed calls from law enforcement to check on the welfare of elders. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
