AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO ASSIST WINEMAKERS TO IMPROVE AND REFINE THE QUALITY OF NEW MEXICO WINES AND INCREASE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF NEW MEXICO WINES; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred seventy thousand twenty dollars ($170,020) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure by the New Mexico department of agriculture in fiscal years 2006 and 2007 to provide assistance to New Mexico winemakers to improve or refine New Mexico wines and to increase public awareness of New Mexico wines. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year

2007 shall revert to the general fund.

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
