AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION IN SUPPORT OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND RESPONSE SERVICES IN NEW MEXICO.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. Three million dollars ($3,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to contract for services with domestic violence prevention and response providers as follows:
(1) one million dollars ($1,000,000) for shelter care and for shelter improvements, expansion and supplies;
(2) one million five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000) to provide child and adolescent counseling and crisis intervention for victims of domestic violence and their children; and
(3) five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) to provide training and education in public schools and other community centers that provide services to families dealing with domestic violence.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
