AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE SUPPLEMENTAL WAGE SUPPORT AND BENEFITS TO CHILD CARE WORKERS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to develop a statewide supplemental wage support program and benefit package for eligible child care workers and to implement the program on a phased-in basis in selected counties as determined by the department. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
