A MEMORIAL
REQUESTING THE SURVEYING COMMITTEE OF THE STATE BOARD OF LICENSURE FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS AND SURVEYORS TO DEVELOP POLICY AND STANDARDS FOR LICENSURE OF NONBOUNDARY SURVEY DISCIPLINES REGULATED BY THE ENGINEERING AND SURVEYING PRACTICE ACT.
WHEREAS, the Engineering and Surveying Practice Act regulates surveying; and
WHEREAS, the Engineering and Surveying Practice Act requires "three years of increasingly responsible experience in boundary surveying" for licensure as surveyor; and
WHEREAS, geodetic surveying and photogrammetric surveying are regulated by the Engineering and Surveying Practice Act; and
WHEREAS, persons who practice geodetic or photogrammetric surveying are unable to be licensed in the state of New Mexico;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the surveying committee of the state board of licensure for professional engineers and surveyors be requested to develop policy and standards for the licensure of nonboundary surveying disciplines regulated by the Engineering and Surveying Practice Act; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the executive director of the state board of licensure for professional engineers and surveyors and the chairman of the surveying committee.
