A JOINT MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING FEBRUARY 22, 2005 AS "SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY DAY" AT THE LEGISLATURE.

 

     WHEREAS, New Mexico is fortunate to have social work students who care for the welfare of its citizens and communities; and

     WHEREAS, New Mexico's social work students should be encouraged to participate in and learn the legislative process to become active and productive citizens of the state; and

     WHEREAS, recognizing New Mexico's social work students as active members of society who enrich the quality of life of the people of New Mexico will strengthen their resolve to become social workers and tomorrow's strong leaders; and

     WHEREAS, the designation of a "Social Work Students Legislative Advocacy Day" in New Mexico would provide an opportunity for social work students everywhere to receive the support, congratulations and positive acknowledgment that can help them achieve their dreams; and

     WHEREAS, Governor Bill Richardson by proclamation has recognized February 22 as "Social Work Students Legislative Advocacy Day";

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that February 22, 2005 be declared "Social Work Students Legislative Advocacy Day" at the legislature and that all New Mexicans be encouraged on that day to recognize and celebrate the contributions of New Mexico's social work students to our state; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the governor.
