    Your ENERGY AND NATURAL RESOURCES COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

HOUSE JOINT MEMORIAL 49

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

1. On page 3, line 10, after the semicolon insert "and".

     2. On page 3, between lines 10 and 11, insert:

     "WHEREAS, there are currently two thousand nine hundred ninety acre-feet of San Juan-Chama water yet to be contracted for;".

     3. On page 3, line 13, strike "regional" and insert in lieu thereof "repayment".

     4. On page 3, line 14, strike "or may have".

     5. On page 3, line 16, after "allotments" insert "and that can demonstrate a need for that water within forty years".

     6. On page 3, between lines 18 and 19, insert:

     "BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the balance of San Juan-Chama water, including the two thousand nine hundred ninety acre-feet yet to be contracted for, be protected from being allocated, whether by contract of otherwise, to any other use that does not fulfill the purpose for which the San Juan-Chama project was established; and".
