SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 135 appropriates $300.0 to institute leadership academies statewide for level 3A
teachers and level 3B administrators in public schools, including charter schools.
Significant Issues
According to PED, Senate Bill 135 provides support for training school leaders, not preparation
programs for administrators. A school leadership function would include models of supervision
and evaluation and how to organize teachers in a school in order to assure student success.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Senate Bill 135 appropriates $300.0 from the general fund for FY05 and FY06 and is recurring.
The bill contains an emergency clause.
