SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 1062 adds a new section to the New Mexico Telecommunications Act, implementing
a time limit on charges for telecommunications services. Telecommunications services providers
will be prohibited from charging customers for a service if a period of more than six months
elapses before the customer is billed for the service.
Significant Issues
Due to lack of agency response, it is not clear what the potential impact of this bill might be for
telecommunications services providers, consumers or state agencies. It is not clear how fre-
quently such providers attempt to charge for services that have not been billed for within six
months or what the dollar value of such charges might be.
