SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 958 appropriates $300 thousand from the general fund to the local government divi-
sion of DFA to supplement expenses for police agencies and county sheriffs to enforce arrest and
bench warrants statewide.
Significant Issues
The bill provides funding to supplement police agencies and county sheriffs but does not provide
for a method of distribution, such as per capita, competitive grant, first-come basis, etc. The bill
does not provide for any oversight or performance measures for the funding.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $300 thousand contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general
fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY 06 shall revert to
the general fund.

ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
DFA will have to determine the method for distributing the funding to local police agencies and
sheriffs.
