SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 795, the Lynn Pierson Compassionate Use Act, would provide for the regulated use
of medical cannabis by individuals suffering from specific debilitating illnesses including cancer,
HIV/AIDS, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, and epilepsy. The Lynn Pierson
Compassionate Use Program would be administered by DOH. Physicians would apply to the
program on behalf of patients who suffer from the defined debilitating illnesses and who might
benefit from medical cannabis. Patients enrolled in the medical cannabis program would not be
subject to arrest, prosecution or penalty for the possession of an amount of cannabis that was
adequate to meet their medical needs.
