committees of the NM Legislature. The LFC does not assume responsibility for the accuracy of these reports

if they are used for other purposes.

Adobe PDF versions include all attachments, whereas HTML versions may not. Previously issued FIRs and

attachments may be obtained from the LFC in Suite 101 of the State Capitol Building North.

SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

Senate Bill 168 proposes new material to the Election Code as it relates to Chapter 1, Article 19;

Campaign Practices. The bill will allow a new provision of the Campaign Reporting Act to al-

low candidates not receiving any contributions nor making any expenditures to be allowed to file

a statement to that effect, in lieu of a full report as required under the provisions of 1-19-27, 1-

19-29 and 1-19-31 NMSA 1978.

Essentially, if a candidate has not accepted contributions nor made any expenditure in the time

frame required by law to file a report, only the statement instead of a full report will be required.

OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES

This bill will simplify reporting requirements for candidates and simplify in the administration

and volume of campaign reports for the Secretary of State.
