Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 164 would establish a requirement that newspapers allowed gross receipts deductions
from publishing and selling newspapers and magazines to publish the name and hometown of
each dead or wounded service personnel that resulted from combat or overseas deployment.
No effective date is provided for the bill’s provisions.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
There are no fiscal implications from this bill.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
If the bill passed, TRD notes that forms, instructions and publication changes would be needed
for the CRS program. Taxpayer and TRD employee education would be needed. Audit and com-
pliance procedures would have to be developed.
