SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Joint Memorial 93 requests the PED to study the feasibility of permitting school districts
to use state school transportation distribution funds to provide municipal bus tokens to high
school inter-zone transfer students to travel to and from the school of their choice. The joint me-
morial requests the PED to include input from interested parties, including school district repre-
sentatives, municipal transportation officials and the families of inter-zone students.
Significant Issues
According to PED, the school transportation distribution funds are used to provide to-and-from-
school transportation services by school buses. Funds are specifically for transporting children or
for parental reimbursement when school bus services are not available in accordance with sec-
tion 22-16-6 NMSA 1978.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
House Joint Memorial 93 does not contain an appropriation.
