SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Joint Memorial 78 makes findings related to the promise of microsystems and nanotech-
nology and on New Mexico’s unique position as a world leader in the field and requests the sec-
retary of economic development to appear before the appropriate interim committee to report on
the department’s plan for microsystems and nanotechnology research and development in New
Mexico as well as on any suggested legislation.
Significant Issues
EDD reports that is has developed a statewide plan for microsystems and nanotechnology re-
search and development. NMED suggests that the secretary should address the environmental
impacts as part of the requested testimony.
