SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 1042 adds New Mexico licensed athletic trainers to the definition of a healthcare pro-
vider with the Worker’s Compensation Act.
Significant Issues
In over 43 states certified and/or licensed athletic trainers are recognized as health care profes-
sionals. This change in law will allow athletic trainers to receive referrals and be reimbursed for
services under the Worker’s Compensation Act.
PERFORMANCE IMPLICATIONS
This will expand the availability of health care providers available to provide services to indi-
viduals under the Worker’ Compensation Act.
