SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 1021 increases the maximum levy assessed per head of cattle within those counties
with established predator control programs.
Significant Issues
House Bill 1021 raises the cap on special levies assessed per head of cattle from a maximum of
25 cents to $1.00.
The New Mexico Livestock Board notes the added levy will be assessed above those fees cur-
rently levied per head of cattle for other inspections.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Those counties which have a predator control program in place will realize significant growth in
revenues if the cap is implemented to the maximum limit.
