SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 696 amends 16-2-2 NMSA 1978 to change the name of the “State Park and Recrea-
tion Advisory Committee” to the “State Parks Advisory Board”.
Significant Issues
The State Park and Recreation Advisory Committee provides valuable advice and support to the
SPD. A name change from “advisory committee” to an “advisory board” does not alter the im-
portant duties and responsibilities of the body. The proposed new name (“advisory board”) will
match up more closely with the names of other state advisory groups as well as that of a compa-
rable body that advises the National Park Service (the National Park Service Advisory Board).
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
No fiscal impact
WHAT WILL BE THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT ENACTING THIS BILL.
The name of this advisory body will remain as is.
