SUMMARY
Synopsis of SPAC Amendment
Senate Public Affairs amendment to House Bill 145 further defines the prohibition on disclosure
of consumer information, “without the customer’s permission or unless it is in accordance with
standardized credit reporting practices or other reporting requirements imposed on the public
utility.”
Synopsis of Original Bill
House Bill 145 enacts a new section of Chapter 62, Article 8 NMSA to prohibit a public utility
or its employees or agents from selling or disclosing consumers’ nonpublic personal information.
Significant Issues
Although PRC regulates public utilities, PRC indicates this bill has no impact on the agency.
