A MEMORIAL
PROCLAIMING FEBRUARY 18, 2005 "PHYSICAL THERAPY DAY" IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
WHEREAS, physical therapists and physical therapist assistants are licensed health care professionals who evaluate and treat people of all ages with physical limitations resulting from injury, disease or disability; and
WHEREAS, there are one thousand one hundred thirty-one physical therapists and two hundred twenty-nine physical therapist assistants licensed to provide services in New Mexico; and
WHEREAS, physical therapists and physical therapist assistants are essential providers, working in hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation facilities, skilled nursing, extended care and sub-acute facilities, hospices, home health care agencies and public schools; and
WHEREAS, physical therapists and physical therapist assistants have a major role in all levels of care, including primary, secondary and tertiary care, as well as preventive care, and in the promotion of health wellness and fitness; and
WHEREAS, physical therapists and physical therapist assistants assist patients and clients on a daily basis to restore health, alleviate pain and improve their level of function in daily activities across all stages of care;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that Friday, February 18, 2005, be proclaimed "Physical Therapy Day" in the house of representatives to honor the dedication and hard work of all physical therapists and physical therapist assistants serving the residents of the state.
