A JOINT MEMORIAL

RECOGNIZING FEBRUARY 3, 2005 AS "CULTURAL AND ETHNIC HERITAGE DAY" AT THE LEGISLATURE.

     WHEREAS, the students of Colinas del Norte elementary school in Rio Rancho recognize the diversity of the people living in New Mexico; and

     WHEREAS, the students believe that citizens must value all cultures in order to achieve peace in New Mexico's schools and communities and the global neighborhood; and

     WHEREAS, the students believe that a day that celebrates diversity will achieve a greater unity among the residents of New Mexico;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that February 3, 2005 be recognized as "Cultural and Ethnic Heritage Day" at the legislature, a day to celebrate the heritage of all people; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the faculty, staff and students of Colinas del Norte elementary school in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
