AN ACT
RELATING TO MUSEUMS; CREATING THE FARM AND RANCH LIVESTOCK FUND FOR THE PURCHASE, MANAGEMENT AND CARE OF THE FARM AND RANCH HERITAGE MUSEUM'S LIVESTOCK COLLECTIONS; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. A new section of the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum Act is enacted to read:
"[NEW MATERIAL] FARM AND RANCH LIVESTOCK FUND--CREATED--PURPOSE.--The "farm and ranch livestock fund" is created as a nonreverting fund in the state treasury. The fund consists of revenue from the sale of livestock, hay and other livestock-related items not sold through the museum gift shop; appropriations; gifts, grants and donations; and income from investment of the fund. The fund shall be administered by the division, and money in the fund is appropriated to the division to purchase livestock, feed, veterinary care and supplies, other supplies, breed association memberships and registration fees; to pay brand fees; to maintain livestock facilities; and to pay other routine expenditures necessary to the care and management of livestock."
Section 2. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the farm and ranch livestock fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 and subsequent fiscal years to carry out the purposes of the fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
