AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO SUPPORT THE OPERATION OF FOOD BANKS STATEWIDE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the human services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to support the operation of food banks and to pay for the purchase and distribution of fresh produce to eight food banks throughout the state. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
