AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A HUMAN RIGHTS EDUCATION PROGRAM IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 for the Bernalillo county sheriff's department to contract with a program already developed and successfully field-tested to present human rights education programs in the public schools that integrate the social and emotional development of the student while meeting state-mandated educational achievement goals, state standards and benchmarks. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
