AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR AFTER-SCHOOL AND SUMMER BRIDGE PROGRAMS TO INCREASE READING AND MATH SKILLS FOR BERNALILLO COUNTY STUDENTS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 for Bernalillo county programs for after-school instructional reading and math remedial or enrichment programs and for the summer "bridge" program for students who need additional instruction in reading and math. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
