AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND TEEN PREGNANCY PREVENTION AND FAMILY STRENGTHENING PROGRAMS STATEWIDE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. Two million six hundred thousand dollars ($2,600,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the following departments for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to fund teen pregnancy and family strengthening programs, including fatherhood programs, in the following amounts:
(1) one million dollars ($1,000,000) to the public education department to fund a program in public schools around the state to provide pregnancy prevention, parenting, family strengthening programming and career development for teen mothers and the fathers of their children;
(2) one million dollars ($1,000,000) to the board of regents of New Mexico state university for the cooperative extension service to fund teen pregnancy prevention and family strengthening programming to families at risk; and
(3) six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) to the human services department for community-based young fatherhood and teen pregnancy prevention programs in New Mexico communities.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
