AN ACT

RELATING TO PUBLIC ASSISTANCE; REQUIRING THAT TEN PERCENT OF THE FEDERAL BLOCK GRANT FOR TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES BE EXPENDED FOR THE FAMILY FORMATION GOALS OF THE FEDERAL PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY AND WORK OPPORTUNITY RECONCILIATION ACT OF 1996.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. A new section of Chapter 27, Article 2B NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] FAMILY FORMATION GOALS--MINIMUM APPROPRIATION.--No less than ten percent of the annual federal block grant for the temporary assistance for needy families program allocated to the state shall be used to fulfill the family formation goals of the federal Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996."
