FOR THE LEGISLATIVE HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A TWENTY-FOUR-HOUR NURSE HEALTH ACCESS TELEPHONE ADVICE LINE TO SERVE ALL NEW MEXICANS REGARDLESS OF INSURANCE STATUS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal years 2005 and 2006 to contract with a statewide consortium of safety net providers with a web-based system of care coordination and for start-up funding to establish phase one of a twenty-four-hour nurse health access telephone advice line to coordinate services to benefit the health of all New Mexicans regardless of insurance status. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.

     Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
