AN ACT
RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES; ADDRESSING THE SEQUENCING OF LEFT-TURN TRAFFIC-CONTROL SIGNALS; ENACTING A SECTION OF THE NMSA 1978.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. A new Section 66-7-105.1 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:
"66-7-105.1. [NEW MATERIAL] SEQUENCING LEFT-TURN SIGNALS.--Whenever traffic at an intersection faces a traffic-control signal regulating through traffic by a green, yellow or red light signal and left turns by means of an arrow signal, the traffic-control signal shall be sequenced so that traffic proceeding on a green light signal straight through the intersection or turning right, if permitted, proceeds prior to or at the same time as activation of the left-turn arrow permitting traffic to turn left."
Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is July 1, 2005.
