AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR COMPENSATION INCREASES FOR ADULT BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. One hundred eighty-eight thousand nine hundred dollars ($188,900) is appropriated from the general fund to the commission on higher education for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 for the following purposes and in the following amounts:

                (1) eighty-eight thousand seven hundred dollars ($88,700) to restore the compensation base for state adult basic education programs; and

                (2) one hundred thousand two hundred dollars ($100,200) to provide an average two percent compensation increase to employees of state basic education programs.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
