AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE INDIAN AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT TO CONTRACT WITH A NONPROFIT ENTITY TO PROVIDE SERVICES TO ELDERLY PERSONS IN THE NAVAJO NATION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fourteen thousand eight hundred dollars ($214,800) is appropriated from the general fund to the Indian affairs department for expenditure in fiscal years 2006 through 2008 to contract with a nonprofit entity to provide elderly intervention specialists who will visit elderly persons in remote areas of the Navajo Nation on a biweekly basis to assist them with health-related issues. No more than seventy-one thousand six hundred dollars ($71,600) may be expended in any one fiscal year. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
