AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR ADULT BASIC EDUCATION STUDENTS WHO QUALIFY FOR TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES SERVICES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the commission on higher education for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to provide adult basic education services to students who qualify for temporary assistance for needy families. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
