AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT FOR A LANGUAGE, CULTURE AND COMMUNITY PROGRAM AT WEST LAS VEGAS HIGH SCHOOL.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to support the services of community experts, including equipment, to provide students at west Las Vegas high school with a knowledge of language variations and the relationships between language, culture and the community. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
