AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR LEARNING COMMUNITIES FOR BASIC STUDIES AND FOR PILOT PROGRAMS FOR CERTIFIED NURSE ASSISTANT TRAINING AND FOR COMPUTER GRAPHIC AND ANIMATION TRAINING IN VALENCIA COUNTY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 at the Valencia campus in the following amounts and for the following purposes:

                (1) one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to establish learning communities for basic studies through the provision of tutors, staff to develop remedial coursework and instruction and stipends for instructors; and

                (2) fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) to provide tuition and fee assistance, transportation and additional resources to enable select students to enroll in pilot programs for certified nurse assistant training and for computer graphics and animation training.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
