AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO DEVELOP CITIZEN PREPARATION CURRICULA.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 for the purpose of developing curricula relating to citizen participation in government and teacher training and providing assistance to students participating in programs that develop awareness of the United States constitution. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
