AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE INDIAN AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT TO IMPROVE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS IN CHAPTERS OF THE NAVAJO NATION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the Indian affairs department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to enhance the abilities of fifty-three Navajo chapters to mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
