AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE PARKS DIVISION OF THE ENERGY, MINERALS AND NATURAL RESOURCES DEPARTMENT FOR NIGHT SKY PROTECTION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Eighty thousand dollars ($80,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state parks division of the energy, minerals and natural resources department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 for night sky and astronomy programs to abate existing light pollution within state parks, to coordinate and expand night sky public education programs and to purchase telescopes and related equipment. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
