FOR THE LEGISLATIVE HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO EXPAND AND FUND "BROWN BAG ASSESSMENTS" OF INDIVIDUALS' PRESCRIPTION DRUG REGIMENS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the aging and long-term services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to pay pharmacists to participate in brown bag assessments and special events for assessments of individuals' prescription drug regimens, including identification of therapeutic alternatives that could be safely and effectively utilized, identification of potentially antagonistic drugs and education about the most appropriate drug regimen. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
