FOR THE CORRECTIONS OVERSIGHT, COURTS AND JUSTICE COMMITTEE

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE A SALARY INCREASE FOR ADULT CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Twelve million five hundred thousand dollars ($12,500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the corrections department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 to provide a salary increase of three dollars fifty cents ($3.50) per hour for adult correctional officers of the following ranks: correctional officer one; correctional officer sergeant; correctional officer two; correctional officer three and correctional officer four. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
