AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR VARIOUS SENIOR CITIZENS PROGRAMS STATEWIDE.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Seven million eight hundred twenty-four thousand seven hundred ninety-seven dollars ($7,824,797) is appropriated from the general fund to the aging and long-term services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2006 for the following purposes and in the following amounts:

               (1) six million two hundred eighty-four thousand two hundred eleven dollars ($6,284,211) to the six area agencies on aging for senior services, including adult daycare, case management, congregate meals, home-delivered meals, in-home services, transportation and senior center services;

          (2) five hundred fifty-one thousand eight hundred fifty-three dollars ($551,853) for volunteer services, including foster grandparent, senior companion and retired senior volunteer programs;

          (3) three hundred fifty-seven thousand six hundred fifty dollars ($357,650) for the senior employment program to create job opportunities for senior citizens within the aging network;

          (4) five hundred twenty thousand seven hundred ninety-two dollars ($520,792) for provision of information, assistance, education and respite services to individuals with Alzheimer's disease or related disorders and their families or caregivers; and

          (5) one hundred ten thousand two hundred ninety-one dollars ($110,291) for statewide legal assistance for senior citizens.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2006 shall revert to the general fund.
