Mr. Speaker:

 

    Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

 

HOUSE BILL 62

 

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

 

     1. On page 2, line 11, after the end quotation marks strike the remainder of the line, strike all of lines 12 through 15 and insert in lieu thereof "means programs that align with physical education content and performance standards.".

 

     2. On page 2, lines 16 and 17, strike "that serve eligible students".

 

     3. On page 2, line 17, after "funding" strike the remainder of the line, strike lines 18 and 19 and insert in lieu thereof "subject to the provisions of Subsections D and E of this section.".

 

     4. On page 2, line 25, strike "If the" and insert in lieu thereof "The".

 

     5. On page 3, line 1, after "department" strike the remainder of the line, strike lines 2 through 6, strike line 7 up to the period and insert in lieu thereof "shall monitor physical education programs that serve eligible students to ensure that they meet the requirements of this section and do not detract from achievements of other content and performance standards".

 

     6. On page 3, line 15, strike "academic".

 

     7. On page 3, line 17, after "taught" insert ", the number of minutes physical education is offered during the week".

 

     8. On page 3, between lines 20 and 21, insert the following new paragraph:

 

                "(1) serve eligible students;".

 

     9. Renumber the succeeding paragraphs accordingly.
