AN ACT

RELATING TO ELECTIONS; REQUIRING THE POSTING OF THE NUMBER OF BALLOTS CAST AND THE NUMBER OF VOTERS AT A POLLING PLACE ON ELECTION DAY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. A new section of the Election Code is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] CONDUCT OF ELECTIONS--POSTING OF NUMBER OF BALLOTS CAST--NUMBER OF VOTERS.--Upon the closing of the polling place, the election judge shall determine the number of each type ballot cast in each precinct of that polling place, including electronic, emergency and provisional ballots, and the number of voters who signed the signature roster and shall post the totals for public viewing."
