A MEMORIAL

EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE SENATE TO NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY HEAD WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL COACH MICHAEL JORDAN, HIS STAFF AND THE NEW MEXICO STATE WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM FOR AN OUTSTANDING 2003 VOLLEYBALL SEASON.

     WHEREAS, Michael Jordan is the head coach of the "Aggies" women's volleyball team at New Mexico state university; and

     WHEREAS, under Jordan's leadership, the Aggies excelled during the 2003 volleyball season; and

     WHEREAS, during the 2003 volleyball season, the Aggies won the Sun Belt conference western division championship for the third consecutive year and earned an automatic bid to the national collegiate athletic association tournament; and

     WHEREAS, the Aggies drew a school record season average attendance of one thousand four hundred thirty-eight fans per match to lead the Sun Belt conference in attendance for the third straight year; and

     WHEREAS, the Aggies finished twenty-fourth in the nation in average attendance and more than ten thousand fans attended a single game during the 2003 volleyball season; and

     WHEREAS, several of the Aggies team members were athletic and academic standouts during the 2003 volleyball season; and

     WHEREAS, Aggie senior Trinia Cuseo was named to the Sun Belt conference first team, was named as Sun Belt conference pre-season player of the year and was named as the 2003 Sun Belt conference tournament championship most valuable player; and

     WHEREAS, Aggie senior Jackie Godber was named as the 2003 Sun Belt conference defensive player of the year and was named to the conference second team; and

     WHEREAS, Aggie seniors Stevi Adams and Morgan Reader were named to the 2003 Sun Belt conference first team and to the Sun Belt conference all-tournament team; and

     WHEREAS, Aggie senior Abby Stines was named to the CoSIDA academic all-district VI first team;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that congratulations be extended to coach Michael Jordan, his staff and the student-athletes of the New Mexico state university women's volleyball team for an outstanding season.
