A MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THE NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE AND PUBLIC SCHOOLS OF THE STATE TO BETTER PUBLICIZE THE GENERAL RICHARD T. KNOWLES LEGISLATIVE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM AVAILABLE AT THE NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE.

 

     WHEREAS, the General Richard T. Knowles legislative scholarship program allows each of New Mexico's one hundred twelve legislators to nominate a student from the legislator's district for scholarship consideration; and

     WHEREAS, in addition, non-selected applicants may be eligible to receive an unawarded legislative scholarship in an open contiguous district; and

     WHEREAS, a student awarded a legislative scholarship may receive the award for up to four years; and

     WHEREAS, many legislators have not received requests from applicants for nominations to the scholarship program;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico military institute and public schools of the state be requested to better publicize the General Richard T. Knowles legislative scholarship program; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that applicants to the program be informed of the names of their representatives and senators; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the New Mexico military institute and the public education department.
