A JOINT MEMORIAL

REQUESTING THE NEW MEXICO VETERANS' SERVICE COMMISSION TO CREATE A NATIVE AMERICAN VETERANS OUTREACH PROGRAM.

     WHEREAS, Native Americans have honorably served in the armed forces of this country when called; and

     WHEREAS, benefits for veterans and their dependents or survivors are not always well-known or understood; and

     WHEREAS, all New Mexicans who have served their country deserve to take advantage of all the benefits to which they are entitled;

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico veterans' service commission be requested to create a Native American veterans outreach program; and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the New Mexico veterans service commission.
