Finance Committee (LFC) for standing finance committees of the NM Legislature. The
LFC does not assume responsibility for the accuracy of these reports if they
are used for other purposes.

NM Legislative Website (legis.state.nm.us). Adobe PDF versions include all attachments,
whereas HTML versions may not.

Synopsis of Bill
Senate Joint Memorial
55 requests that the Legislative Education Study Committee, (LESC) in cooperation
with the PED, study the issue of mandates from federal and state law and PED
rules.
Significant Issues
Senate Joint Memorial 55 requests that the study
include what the mandates cost, whether they are fully or partially funded by
law or rule, and whether there is a fiscal impact over time.
The LESC will make recommendations to the
Legislature on its
findings.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
PED staff will work
with LESC to complete the study and report to the Legislature.
