SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Joint Memorial
35 requests the PED and DOH collaborate in a study of methods to increase the
physical activity and improve the eating habits of youth.
Significant Issues
According to DOH and PED, they are currently in
the planning stages for conducting a forum on physical activity and nutrition
issues in schools. This forum could be utilized to implement the study
requested in SJM35.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Senate Joint Memorial
does not contain an appropriation. According to DOH, $30,000 has been
identified for the physical activity and nutrition forum. $20,000 is from PED
through the USDA grant fund.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
The study can be
accomplished with existing PED staff.
