SUMMARY
Synopsis
of Senate Floor Amendment
The Senate Floor Amendment 1 eliminates the
section that suggests the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) did
not properly obtain fair lease agreements.
Synopsis of Original Bill
Senate Joint Memorial
11 requests NMDOT meet with the board of trustees for the La Nuestra Senora del Rosario de San Fernando y Santiago land
grant. The purpose of the meeting would be to resolve the fair lease agreements
and traffic safety concerns with state highway 76. The joint memorial also
requests NMDOT to report status of the discussions to the legislature by
Significant Issues
NMDOT reports that it legally obtained easements
in the 1950s, and will make these documents available to the board of trustees.
The department further asserts that it intends to address the traffic safety
issues in its scheduled reconstruction project in 2005.
