Fiscal impact reports (FIRs) are prepared by the Legislative Finance Committee (LFC) for standing finance committees of the NM Legislature. The LFC does not assume responsibility for the accuracy of these reports if they are used for other purposes.

 

Current FIRs (in HTML & Adobe PDF formats) are available on the NM Legislative Website (legis.state.nm.us).  Adobe PDF versions include all attachments, whereas HTML versions may not.  Previously issued FIRs and attachments may also be obtained from the LFC in Suite 101 of the State Capitol Building North.

SUMMARY

 

Synopsis of Bill

 

Senate Bill 177 cleans up language in Section 28-10-1.  The most apparent change is the substitution through out the statute of Commission on Disability for Committee on the Concerns of the Handicapped.  In addition, wording for the following committee (commission) members are changed.

  • Director of the division of vocational rehabilitation of the department of education is changed to director of the vocational rehabilitation division of the public education department;
  • Director of employment services division of the human services department is changed to the secretary of labor or his designee;
  • Director of the behavioral health services division of the department of health and environment is changed to the director of the behavioral health services of the division of the department of health, and
  • Director of the social services division of the human services department is changed to secretary of human services or his designee.Also, the word handicapped is changed to disability.
