SUMMARY

Synopsis of Bill

Senate Bill 409 provides the state board of finance the ability to make emergency loans or grants to Indian nations, tribes or pueblos located in New Mexico.  Current law allows the state board of finance to lend or grant to any state agency, board, commission, municipal corporation or other political subdivision.  The bill adds Indian nations, tribes and pueblos in New Mexico to the list of entities that are able to receive emergency loans or grants from the state board of finance.

Significant Issues

Currently the state board of finance makes emergency loans or grants to the Indian Affairs department, which requests loans or grants on behalf of the Indian nations, tribes or pueblos.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

The bill does not contain an appropriation.
